Major Component Technician
Job title: Service technician (Major Components)
Reports to: Project Manager
Location: UK/EU and remote working for major Component exchange and service support
Purpose of the Job
A key role in the Major Component Exchange team where you will support major correctives throughout the Full Circle fleet and those of our valued customers. Your daily work will involve major component exchanges and technical repairs that require a high degree of flexibility, safety awareness, electromechanical installation skills. A proven track record working as an AT, CT or slinger signaller is essential. Secondary to UK major components will be an occasional requirement to travel and support our regional and international service teams, therefore a European passport is beneficial.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Main component support
- Major component exchange
- Onsite preparations including the support of crane hire surveys, ground bearing pressure tests and customer project meetings.
- Onsite execution of major component exchanges on various turbine types including the mechanical and electrical removal and installation of all turbine main components,. Gearboxes, Generators, Blades, main bearings etc.
- Banksman duties for escorting heavy plant on and off project locations
- Slinger/Signaller duties for the preparation of the work area in accordance with the lifting operation method statements.
- AT and CT duties ensuring the provision of safety from the system on the removal and re-installation of all main components.
Service support
- Maintenance & troubleshooting
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on onshore wind turbines according to established schedules.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, or technical issues impacting turbine performance.
- Perform repairs or replacement of components as needed, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and service reports.
- Participate in special projects, such as commissioning, onboarding turbines to our fleet, major component replacement and other.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in wind turbine maintenance and operations.
- Quality & Safety
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
- You are responsible for checking and maintaining quality of all components relating to wind turbine, as well as recognizing interconnections within the system’s architecture.
- You are accountable for the safe and effective operation of electrical and mechanical components within the wind turbine.
- Continuous improvement & Collaboration
- Collaborate with engineering and operational teams to implement improvements and optimize turbine performance.
Job requirements
Requirement
- You have a valid driver’s license.
- Previous experience in major component exchange or wind turbine installation.
- Previous WTSR competency as CT AT or AE having working on Siemens or Vestas technologies.
- CPCS Slinger/Signaller or Crane Supervisor certification (desirable)
- European Passport (desirable)
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional electrical/mechanical education or certification in wind turbine maintenance.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems as applied to wind turbines.
- Proficient in using technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and equipment for troubleshooting and repair.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
